*We are mandated reporters. That means we have to follow Maine state reporting laws. If we think you are under 18 and you tell us any information that makes us think you are being abused or neglected, we may have to share this with other adults to help keep you safe.

You can get help in many ways.
Call our helpline. You can call 1-800-871-7741 any time to reach a trained advocate who can help. You can call this number if you've just been assaulted and aren't sure what to do, if you just need to talk to someone, if you have a friend who needs help, if you want to make an appointment to see someone in person, and for any other reason. We're here to support whatever you need.

Come to a support group. Support groups are a place for peer support and learning and can help survivors on their healing journey. Group members share their experiences and what kind of support helps. SARSSM offers different kinds of support groups like peer support or trauma-sensitive yoga. We host support groups for all gender identities in York and Cumberland Counties. Head to the Support Groups page for more information.
Ask for a trained advocate to go with you to the hospital or police department. A trained advocate is available 24/7 if you want to go to the hospital for an exam after an assault. We can also go with you if you want to report to the police.
Meet in person with an advocate for ongoing needs. Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) Advocates are trained to support survivors in many ways. Our SART Advocates offer in-person information and help survivors find resources and file paperwork. We will go with you to medical appointments, court, and to the police. We can help with assault and harassment issues at work and school. We also connect people with legal and community help. No matter what kind of ongoing help you need we are here to give emotional support as well.
