community education

Our community education programs are an important part of what we do at SARSSM: help our community learn how to make real change regarding sexual violence.

Our programs are available for and tailored to meet the needs of civic groups, social service providers, health care providers, and local businesses. We also can provide professional training programs to municipalities, first-responders, and other professionals to support our community in sexual violence prevention and response.

"Caregivers In The Know"

Initially aimed at parents, this program is an open invitation to any adult who cares about the safety of children and is interested in learning how they can prevent child sexual abuse as a part of a community effort.

If the positive actions of one individual can make an impact on a child’s life, we believe it’s important to encourage the coordinated efforts of a community to utilize their further and stronger reach. This is education group focuses on learning, skill-building, and fostering a place community to encourage members to get involved. Over the 4-week* program, participants explore such subject matter as: personal body safety, recognizing grooming behaviors, bystander intervention, healthy sexuality, and so much more! This program utilizes activities and discussions to encourage participants to build trust, learn from one another’s experiences, and brainstorm ideas to make lasting impacts on their communities.

*The recommended program is 2 hours per week (8 hours total) but this can be adjusted per the needs of the group. Please contact SARSSM with inquiries.
