Advocacy & SupportOur Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) Advocates are here to provide supportive services to survivors of sexual violence. We help all survivors - no matter who they are, where they are from, or how long ago it happened. We can also support survivors' friends and family.
Our staff also works toward community change and changing the systems that survivors often use (like courts, jails and prisons, campus services, and others). |

Anti-trafficking
Our advocates help survivors of sex-trafficking or exploitation in Southern Maine. We also provide community trainings and bring together many organizations in Southern Maine to increase awareness and safety to victims of trafficking.
Latinix & New Mainers
Our advocates help clients in ways that are sensitive to their culture. We do not ask about immigration status. We are always happy to provide an interpreter.
INcarcerated & court services
Our advocates help people who are incarcerated in Cumberland and York County. Advocates support survivors if they just need to talk or if they want to report to the jail or prison what happened to them. We also have many support groups in jails and prisons. Advocates also help survivors with legal resources like getting protection from abuse orders and connecting them with ongoing legal help.
LGBTQ+
We are proud to support survivors of all genders and sexual orientations. We have support groups for trans folks that we provide in partnership with MaineTransNet. Contact us for more information.
community outreach
SARSSM advocates do drop-in hours in homeless shelters, food pantries, community centers, libraries and many other community locations. We work with many community organizations to connect survivors with services. We also provide trainings to community organizations.
