At SARSSM, trained staff and volunteers work together to answer our 24-hour sexual assault helpline, and to provide accompaniments to local hospitals and police departments.
We are currently very low on volunteers, and could use your help to ensure that all callers receive the compassionate care and support they deserve. If you are looking for meaningful volunteer work and want to make a difference in the lives of survivors and their loved ones in York and Cumberland Counties, consider joining our team! We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds across Southern Maine. SARSSM provides extensive training and support, accompaniment stipends and reimbursements for mileage and meals, in addition to bonuses for helping us to recruit additional volunteers! Click on the button above for more details and to access our online volunteer application. We hope to hear from you! |
"Volunteering on SARSSM's helpline has been a enormously personally impactful experience. Being able to contribute to the welfare and wellbeing of my community and neighbors and bringing that small amount of ease to anyone's experience is so meaningful." |
