Prevention & Education

Our Prevention & Education programs currently include school & community-based prevention education that follow evidence-driven approaches. A goal of the organization is to diversify and expand our community engagement offerings.
Please email us to learn more about or programs and curricula, to join our prevention mailing list, or to request a training.
SARSSM's school-based education programs provides community-level child sexual abuse and sexual violence prevention and education programs for youth (PreK-College), as well as the adults that care for and support them. Our team of Educators work to develop youth-centric and trauma-informed programs to be taught in classrooms and youth-serving spaces all across Southern Maine, in addition to offering training and technical assistance for youth-serving adults. All of our prevention materials and curriculums are customized to meet the needs of our diverse student populations in the Greater Portland area.

Our community-based education programs work to build networks of awareness, understanding, and connection to our catchment areas of Cumberland and York Counties. Many of these programs compliment the work we are doing in education, targeting outreach to segments of the population that are often underserved and/or marginalized. We are bridging community while building and implementing programs and services that focus on aging populations, the disabled, New Mainers, LGBQT+ folks, and more.
