State-Mandated Trainings for School Personnel

Child Sexual Abuse Awareness & Prevention Education for School Personnel
(1.5 hours)

The State of Maine requires that all school personnel complete this training every four years. Schools in York and Cumberland Counties can request that SARSSM facilitate the training for their staff.
Please email us to schedule any of the educator trainings listed on this page! The trainings listed here can be provided virtually or in person.
Child Sexual Abuse Awareness & Prevention Education for School Personnel, Training of the Trainers (4.0 hours)
If schools would like to facilitate their own in-house state-mandated ‘Child Sexual Abuse Awareness & Prevention Education for School Personnel’ training, they can request that SARSSM train their trainers.

Virtual Trainings for Educators on How to Use Our Curricula in the Classroom

Elementary Curriculum Training for Educators
This training prepares teachers, school social workers, guidance counselors, and other educators on ways to effectively deliver our elementary school curriculum and address common questions and concerns.

Middle School (6th-8th grade) Curriculum Training for Educators
This training prepares teachers, school social workers, guidance counselors, and other educators on ways to effectively deliver our middle school curriculum and address common questions and concerns.

High School (9th-12th grade) Curriculum Training for Educators
This training prepares teachers, school social workers, guidance counselors, and other educators on ways to effectively deliver our high school curriculum and address common questions and concerns.

Continued Education: Topic-Based Trainings for Educators

Child Sexual Abuse Awareness & Prevention (1.5 hours)
This training is designed for school-based educators and other youth-serving adults to learn about child sexual abuse awareness and prevention.

Overview of SARSSM Offerings and Prevention Model (0.5 hours)
This training is designed for school-based educators and other youth-serving adults to learn about SARSSM as an organization and how our Youth Prevention and Education program can support schools.

Supporting LGBTQ+ Youth and Fostering Inclusive Classrooms (1.0 hours)
This training is designed for school-based educators and other youth-serving adults to learn about how to better support and affirm LGBTQ students, as well as to foster inclusive classrooms.

Addressing the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (2.0 hours)
This training is designed for school-based educators and other youth-serving adults to learn how to prevent and build awareness around the commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC).
